Multivariate Data Analysis Group

The mission of MDAG is to create a network and support system for those interested in multivariate data analysis and classification in a broad sense; exploring a wide range of possible applications.

We are proud to announce that our MDAG chair, Prof. Sugnet Lubbe, has been elected as treasurer of the IFCS council.

The IFCS election committee has also announced the following elections:
Christian Hennig - Secretary

François Brucker - Finance committee member

Friedrich Leisch - Additional member

Iven van Mechelen - Additional member

As treasurer of the IFCS Prof Lubbe is now automatically a member of the IFCS council, which means that MDAG had to nominate a new representative on the council. The secretary, Johané Nienkemper-Swanepoel will be representing MDAG on the IFCS council.

Titles and abstracts should be uploaded and submitted on the conference website ( Paper submissions will be available from 1 January 2017 and will close on 18 April 2017. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by 15 May 2017.

MDAG will be hosting an invited speaker session at the IFCS 2017 conference in Tokyo, Japan. If you are interested in attending the conference and presenting in the MDAG session, please contact Sugnet Lubbe ( to indicate your interest. Please note that you will have to commit to attending the IFCS 2017 conference and have a planned title for your talk by Friday 28 October 2016.

MDAG cannot provide financial support but as a SASA member you are entitled to a reduced registration fee. Flyer
