Main excursion options
For a heart-warming experience the Cheetah Experience is a must. They are doing their best to conserve endangered species, with special focus on the breeding and conservation of the cheetah. Other species include lions, leopards, servals, caracals, tigers and wolves. The tour is about 60 minutes long and is led by one of their guides. The guide will offer educational information. You will get close to many of the animal enclosures on foot, which provides perfect photo opportunities.
Standing in the heart of the City of Roses is Naval Hill. Standing on top of this geographic wonder, you are provided with an exquisite panoramic view of Bloemfontein. Franklin Game Reserve on Naval Hill is currently the only nature reserve in the world to be located in the middle of the city. Within the reserve you will discover amazing African wildlife including zebra, blesbok, springbok, giraffe and eland as well as abundant bird life. Other things to see on Naval Hill are the Sterrewag Theater and a huge statue of Nelson Mandela looking over Bloemfontein.

Bloemfontein has various museums to visit, including the Anglo-Boer War Museum and Oliewenhuis Art Museum. There is also a great deal of art on show on the UFS campus.
